BTOs are amazing for Singaporeans with a tight budget and a long timeline. But what about the couples who have applied 5 or 6 times and just keep failing to get a queue number?
The market does not wait for us. A 4-room HDB might cost $600,000 today, but if you wait 2 years hoping for a good ballot number, that same resale flat might jump to $700,000.
If you eventually give up and buy resale later, youโve lost both time AND money.
A safer alternative for shorter timelines is buying a resale first, finishing your MOP, and then applying for a BTO later.
