Selling Private Property: What happens after agreeing on a price with the buyer? 🤝

💵 After agreeing on the price, the Buyer typically provides a cheque for 1% of the offered price along with their Letter of Offer, outlining their intentions and terms.

📄 The seller then accepts by depositing the cheque and issuing an Option to Purchase (OTP). The timeframe for issuing the OTP is commonly 3 to 7 days.

🖌 The Buyer usually has 14-21 days to exercise the OTP, during which they need to make a 4% payment. The signed OTP, along with the payment then passes through the Buyer's lawyer to the Seller's lawyer.

🔑 From the moment the OTP is exercised, it usually takes the lawyers 2-3 months to complete the process, which includes making the final payment and handing over the keys.
