I was 9 when I had my first real lesson about money.

I wanted a Game Boy Color.

Everyone seemed to have one. Pokémon Yellow and Red were everywhere, and I wanted one badly.

So I asked my mum.

Her answer was simple:

“Save money and buy yourself.”

My daily allowance was $1.50.

So I started saving.

My Deepavali ang pows went into the pot too.

Eventually, I had around $130.

For a 9-year-old, that felt like a fortune.

One Saturday, I went to Mustafa Centre with my dad, ready to finally buy it.

Then I realised something...

I had enough for the Game Boy.

But not the game cartridge.

😂

So I bought the console and started saving all over again.

There was even an uncle at an aquarium near my parents' shop who sold Game Boy cartridges on the side. I somehow negotiated an instalment arrangement with him and kept paying until I could take the game home.

Looking back now, I realise my mum was teaching me something I couldn't understand at 9.

She was teaching me that I could create the money for something I wanted.

Back then, I only thought:

“Why do I have to work so hard for something my friends get so easily?”

Today, I see it differently.

Some of our earliest experiences with money quietly shape the way we relate to it as adults.

I'm starting to understand my own relationship with money by looking back at stories like this.

And I'm curious about yours too.

What's one of your earliest memories involving money?

This one stopped me in my tracks.

“You do not belong to you.
You belong to the Universe.”

Wow.

We spend so much of our lives worrying about what we have, what we own, what we might lose, what someone did to us, what someone said about us.

And yet… we came into this world with nothing.
And we will leave with nothing.

So why do we carry so much?

Why the endless stress?

Why the unhappiness?

Why the fights, the hatred, the wars, the need to prove that I am right and you are wrong?

Maybe we are looking at life the wrong way.

Perhaps we are not here to possess life.
Perhaps we are here to experience it.

To learn.
To love.
To embrace.
To connect.
To help each other.

To turn our experiences , even the painful ones into something that can benefit others.

And when our journey here is done, perhaps all we really take with us are the learnings, the love we gave, and the lives we touched.

This beautiful quote was shared by my wise friend Marko , and some of these words hit me deeply.

You do not belong to you.
You belong to the Universe.

Maybe there is freedom in remembering that. 🌌

Most people only see the conversation.

They don't see what happens before it.

The questions.
The frameworks.
The notes that get rewritten.
The things I decide not to ask.
The connections between what someone says, what they do, and what may be sitting underneath it.

Building a Wealth Flow conversation isn't about having a list of financial questions.

It's about creating enough space for someone to see something they may not have noticed before.

That takes preparation.

And sometimes, the most important part of the work happens before the conversation even begins.

This is what I'm learning as I build Architect of Wealth.

The work isn't just about helping people understand wealth.

It's about learning how to help people see it differently.

We are taught how to make money.

We are taught how to grow money.

But who teaches us how to hold it?

Because making more isn't the same as keeping more.

And keeping more isn't the same as growing more.

There is a skill in creating wealth.

A different skill in holding it.

And another skill in growing it.

I think we often rush to the next stage without becoming good at the one we're already in.

Maybe wealth isn't about moving faster.

Maybe it's about learning what each stage requires from you.

That's something I'm exploring deeper through Architect of Wealth.

Which part feels harder for you - making, holding, or growing?

Most people try to change their financial results.

I start somewhere else.

Because results don't begin with money.
They begin long before that.

Experiences shape meaning.

Meaning becomes beliefs.

Beliefs form your Wealth Core.

Your Wealth Core influences behaviour.

And behaviour creates results.

Most people spend years trying to change the last step...
without ever questioning the first.

That's why awareness matters.

You can't redesign your wealth flow if you don't understand what's already shaping it.

What's one belief about money you've carried for years that you're beginning to question?

Yesterday, I asked about your relationship with money.

Today, I'd like you to notice something different.

Money leaves clues.
The way you spend.
The way you save.
The way you avoid looking at your bank account.
The way you celebrate.
The way you hesitate before making a decision.

None of these happen by accident.

They reveal patterns.
And patterns reveal design.

The goal isn't to judge yourself.
The goal is to become aware.

Because once you can see the pattern...
You can start redesigning it.

What's one money habit you've never questioned until today?

I used to think helping people with money meant giving them better financial advice.

Now I spend more time asking better questions.

Because before someone changes their finances...

They usually need to become aware of the relationship they already have with money.

Some avoid it.
Some fear it.
Some chase it.
Some feel guilty receiving it.

Most never stop to ask why.

Money isn't just something we manage.
It's something that flows through our lives every single day.

Better wealth flow begins with awareness.

What is one word that describes your relationship with money today?
