Final multiplier event within the DISERA project - "Disinformation of seniors in rural areas" in Slovakia

In the digital age, information becomes the most valuable resource, but at the same time, it also becomes the object of mass exploitation to spread misinformation. Disinformation is the process of spreading false or manipulative information with the aim of influencing public opinion, changing attitudes or perceptions of events.

We talked about where misinformation comes from, why it is important to think critically, how to also think about security and know how to recognize a troll on August 19, 2024 in the House of Culture in Čadca. The main lecturers were representatives of the Youth Prevention Center Mgr. Marcela Voreková and Mgr. Francis Linet. The invitation was also accepted by representatives of the University of the Third Age, Mr. Ľubica Mindeková as well as representatives of the local government.

Disinformation can come from a variety of sources, from reckless media and social media to orchestrated government campaigns. They often have their roots in the interests of individual groups or even states that try to influence internal or external political circumstances. Therefore, we thank all project participants for their active participation and support, and of course we will continue our campaigns to improve critical thinking, especially of seniors, because the main goal of fake news is usually the destabilization of the political and social situation in the country in which these news are spread. For example, they may relate to elections or public relations of any political party or its individual personalities. Experts note that disinformation is most often spread through Telegram channels, which can be managed by people whose identities remain anonymous, through groups on social networks, as well as "one-day" Internet sites.

You can find more information about other campaigns on our website www.disera.eu. The project was supported by Erasmus+ grants.

Marcela Voreková a Mgr.

Today, for the second time, a media literacy workshop was held within the framework of the DISERA project. And this time, in cooperation with the Association of Pensioners - Bitola, we managed to convey to the elderly the importance of media literacy.
💻Among other things, we talked about online protection and security and developed a discussion that opened up space for holding more such workshops. The activity of the participants in both workshops was an inspiration for further collaborations. Thank you! 🙏

The final meeting in Slovakia is approaching. It's a shame that such a nice project has to end. We believe in its further continuation, because education about disinformation is very necessary, especially in remote areas. We look forward to seeing all our partners in Slovakia in the town of Čadca.🙂🙃😉
