Knowing English and feeling confident enough to use English are two different things.

This October, SPEAK UP! English Speaking & Debate Camp gives students the opportunity to actually speak, think, respond and communicate through:

🎭 Improv & speaking games
⚡ Quick-thinking challenges
💡 Argument battles
🤝 Team activities
🎤 Public speaking
🏆 Debate Showdown

Students will work with 3 specialist coaches in Debate, Improv and English Communication throughout the camp.

No previous debate experience required.
Perfect English is not required.

A simple pause between ideas gives children time to think, helps their audience follow along, and makes their message clearer. ✨

🌟Confidence does not always begin with a child speaking loudly in front of a room.

It may begin with a much smaller moment.

A student may raise their hand after several weeks of quietly observing. Another may ask a question, speak to a partner, or try again after giving an incorrect answer.

At YLA, our coaches pay attention to these moments because they show that a student is becoming more comfortable participating and expressing ideas.

Every child develops differently. Instead of comparing one child’s confidence with another’s, we can recognise the next brave step each child is ready to take.

Confidence is not always loud. Sometimes it begins quietly.☺️
