Simon House | A 67 m² Home Designed for Vietnam’s Climate

Simon House by Story Architecture is a compact 67 m² home in Vietnam designed around natural light, ventilation, and climate response.

Its distinctive façade uses white brick, creating a textured outer layer that helps reduce solar heat gain while allowing natural light and air to filter into the interior.

Rather than treating the brick façade as decoration, the design uses it as a climatic screen—balancing privacy, daylight, ventilation, and thermal comfort within a small footprint.

The result is a simple example of how thoughtful material choices can make a compact home feel cooler, brighter, and more connected to its environment.

The Complete Architectural Guide to Deconstructivist Building Facades

Deconstructivist façades challenge conventional ideas of order, symmetry, and geometry, using fragmented forms, unexpected angles, overlapping volumes, and dynamic compositions to create architecture that feels constantly in motion.

Designing a successful deconstructivist façade requires more than simply making a building look irregular. Proportion, structure, materials, openings, circulation, and environmental performance must work together to create a controlled sense of complexity.

Key principles often include fragmentation, asymmetry, geometric distortion, layered surfaces, sharp angles, and contrasting materials. These elements can create dramatic shadows, changing perspectives, and a strong visual identity while responding to the building's program and context.

The challenge is finding the balance between visual chaos and architectural logic—creating a façade that feels unpredictable while remaining functional, buildable, and responsive to its environment.

💬 Which element is most important in a deconstructivist façade—geometry, materials, or the relationship between different volumes?

Stone Remembers | When Old and New Architecture Meet

Old walls carry the memory of a place. New volumes arrive with an entirely different language.

This AI-generated architectural concept by Dukant Atelier explores the relationship between historic stone and contemporary intervention—not as restoration, and not as contrast for the sake of contrast, but as a negotiation between past and present.

Heavy stone walls anchor the architecture to the ground, while a dark, precise volume appears to float above them. The two materials remain deliberately distinct, allowing texture, weight, proportion, and tension to define the relationship.

Rather than blending old and new together, the concept lets them stand beside each other—creating an architectural dialogue where the contrast becomes the main character.

These are purely conceptual, AI-generated images exploring how architecture can use contrast, materiality, and emotion before reaching the physical world.
