When war isn't just fought on the battlefield, but in the arena of 'stories' and 'hidden truths'

This article is not written as a child and adolescent psychiatrist,
but as a Thai person
who is hurt by what she sees and cannot help but speak out.

In the past few days, the violence between 'Thailand' and 'Cambodia' has escalated rapidly, to the point where many have begun to call it a 'war.'
Many people have been injured, lost their lives, lost their homes, and lost hope.

I don't know how this war will end.
We may win on the battlefield,
but on another battlefield, the battlefield of information... we may be the losers.

In today's world, whoever controls the 'stories' first, who speaks loudest, and who has influence in the global media,
wins.
It seems that 'truth' alone may not be enough
if no one speaks for them, no one listens, and there is no media with the power to convey the truth to the eyes of the world.

Even more painful is that we are fighting a country with a history of being a global epicenter of cybercrime and scams,
a country that deceives the entire world through screens,
yet has managed to transform itself into a "victims"
and push us to become "villains" in the eyes of the world.

Some parts of the world are more willing to believe what is "told"
than what is "true," especially when our voices are quieter.

In a war like this,
winning on the battlefield doesn't mean winning on the story.
Telling the truth doesn't mean the world will listen.
Because the truth often isn't loud enough
if no one stands with it.

So what do we do?

When the other side is writing false stories,
we must dare to speak the truth even more.
Even if no one is listening right now.
Even if our voices are quiet.
Even if our posts aren't shared tens of thousands of times,
it's still the "truth."
And the truth is the only thing that remains constant.
No matter which way the world turns.

Don't let them write history one-sidedly.
Don't let "fiction" be recorded as "fact."
Don't let the world remember what happened... incorrectly.

Let's communicate the truth,
as best we can,
as best we can,
