Life here at Mayan Apartments is ticking along just nicely.
More guests have booked in, a couple, a single woman and a group of 4 people staying for a month. In that time another couple stayed briefly and left.
The monsoon rains are certainly on the way, so nobody is really out by the pool and no chance for a photo shoot.
However there is always an opportunity to take pictures of the local wildlife.
We have a new addition to the Mayan family. Her name is Honey and she is the cutest little bundle of fluff with razor sharp teeth who is quite happy to use them.
Having learnt how to navigate the steps and small incline in the reception she is out and about when Noi allows her and is quite happy chasing any cat that comes into her view. She stays with Charcoal the black cat and is very happy around him and they play fight regularly, but Meow Meow is another thing. She isn’t the friendliest of cats with other cats and less so with Honey. But Honey is relentless in her pursuit of Meow trying to get her to join the fun.
I’m not a big animal lover but the animals are quite funny to observe.
So wildlife……………….
I woke up one morning, still half asleep. I opened the curtains to see a big chicken just ambling down the drive into the car park and I was thrown me into a panic.
In the time it’s taken to grab a sarong and leg it out of my place I imagined all manner of carnage and I can’t bear to see animals attack each other now matter how natural it is.
I run quickly over to the security bar and encourage this chicken to go back up the driveway. It’s clucking quite loudly and indignantly but moving back up the drive and then legs it out onto the waste ground just beyond the villas situated in front of Mayan Apartments.
Job done…………….so I thought.
This chicken has a death wish………………..it has almost taken up residence here in the garden.
And the cats?.................don’t really seem to care. How can that be? I thought cats and chickens didn’t party together but this chicken is really just happy scrabbling around in the ground and the grass, eating whatever takes it’s fancy and the cats haven’t bothered it in any way.
It’s day 4 and our chicken is still hanging around………..
It reminded me of a chicken joke………..
Why did the chicken cross the road………………
Because it could…………………..surprisingly haha!!!
