On May 13th at Overgrown, Jumrat Phumiphuthaworn and Chamnan Yordkaew, craft masters from Ban Koo Ku Sufficiency Economy Learning Centre, taught traditional hat weaving to local schoolchildren. This is one of a series of events we’re holding as part of Layan Verde’s new art direction.

It all started at , where we met , a socially engaged artist who works with local communities and cultural heritage. She creates places where people come together and make things. and flew to Bangkok specifically to see one of her works: a flower market that became a gathering point for the entire city. And that’s the idea that resonates with our project.

One of our goals is to create an art residency at Layan Verde: a home for artists, craftspeople, and creators in Phuket. That means public areas, exhibition spaces, and coworking zones as well as cultural and educational events, and a multicultural community to bring it all to life.

We’re just beginning to connect with the local community, to bring in artists and craftspeople. Stay tuned, we’ll be sharing the full story of the art residency at Layan Verde.

The project has grown significantly in April – from piling works to constructing fifth floors in residential buildings. As we wrap up the month, let’s capture the progress:

• Building A5: Masonry works continue on the 3rd and 2nd floors. MEP installation is underway on the 2nd floor.
• Building A2.1: Vertical structure works continue at the rear of the building.
• Building A2.2: Zone 1 is progressing with vertical structure works on the 5th floor. Zone 2 continues with 3rd floor slab structure works.
• Building A3.1: Zone 1 is advancing with reinforcement installation on the 2nd floor. Zone 2 has completed concrete pouring for the 2nd floor slab.
• Building A3.2: Scaffolding, formwork, and reinforcement installation are in progress at basement level 1.
• Building A4: Zone 1 is progressing with reinforcement installation for the 4th floor slab. Zone 2 has completed concrete pouring for the 5th floor slab.
• Buildings A1 and B8: Foundation works are in progress.
• Building B3: Piling works continue.

• Piles drilled: 1,989 piles
• Structural concrete poured: 15,176 m³

Construction Progress:
• Building A5: MEP installation, masonry, and pool works continue.
• Buildings A2.1 and A2.2: Vertical structure and external staircase works are in progress on the 5th floor of both buildings.
• Buildings A3.1 and A3.2: Vertical structure works continue on the 1st floor in Building A3.1. Building A3.2’s 1st floor beam and slab works are underway.
• Building A4: Reinforcement installation for the 3rd floor slab and vertical structures is in progress in Zone 1.
• Building BM2: Vertical structure works continue on the 1st floor in Zone 2.
• Building B8: Foundation works are in progress.
