MY FAVORITE LOCATIONS AT THE NEIGHBORHOOD WHICH ARE SHOWN ON THE MAP.
1-VAN KAHVALTI
This is an excellent place for having breakfast, they only serve traditional eastern style breakfast and the owner is from one of the famous eastern city in Turkey called “VAN “.
( “Kahvalti “ means Breakfast.)
If it is Saturday or Sunday there is no place to sit unless you go early ,otherwise there will be queue. They don’t accept reservation.
2- KASABIM ( means “ my butcher “)
Very nice meat restaurant with reasonable prices, you can have steaks with excellent quality.
3- JASH
This is so cute little Armenian restaurant , with accordion music.
4-KAKTUS
There are many famous Café & Restaurants , Bars in Cihangir, Kaktus is one of them.
5-CICEK PASAJI
This is a historical passage with many restaurants placed in “Istiklal Avenue” I am sure you will love it , but negotiate with the prices before you take a sit.
6- SAVOY BALIK
Anexcellent taste for fish lovers near your home, prices is not bad (but check the menu some time daily fresh fishes’s price’s are not indicated ) but difficult to find place for dinner, needs reservation (+90 212 2493382)
7- ROSE MARIN
One of the famous and quite café & restaurant in Cihangir, also near to home with nice and hidden garden behind.
8-ZUBEYIR
Zubeyir is also one of my favorite place around “Istiklal Avenue ”, when I want to have traditional grill. ( I am sure you didn’t try before , this is not ordinary Barbecue.) Zubeyir always surprises me about how that much tourists finds the place, it is amazing. But it is difficult to find place for dinner unless you make reservation at least one day before ( +90 212 2933951)
9- CEZAYIR STAIRS ( means ALGERIA STAIRS) but some calls French Stairs.
Lovely cafes and bars with fantastic ambiance.
10- CIHANGIR MOSQUE
You would recognize a mosque bottom of the map called “ Cihangir Mosque “ there is a lovely garden which is open to public and you would see marvelous view of Bosphorus. It is less than 10 min walking distance to apartment I hardly recommend.
(Fatih Sultan Mehmet’ s ( Famous Ottoman Sultan who had besieged and got Istanbul from the Byzantines in 1453) little son Cihangir was tuberculosis and so sick and according to the doctor’s advice they moved to this location to feel the nice breeze and weather, but Cihangir has died and his father had built this mosque in memory of his son and his name is given to the district as well)
11-- While checking the map you would recognize where you are ,with “red mark “ and also some coloured streets.
Green: Istiklal Avenue.
Purple : The way you should follow to reach Istiklal Avenue with 3 alternatives.(you should try all)
Pink : Those 2 streets called “ NEVIZADE “ and “ASMALI MESCIT “ they are both very famous with dozens of restaurants, bars and cafes one next to another, especially for dinner and I am sure you will like it.
12- NAMLI ( Famous Breakfast Restaurant)
This is not shown in my map , but you can go to Karakoy Seaport ( 10 min.on foot ) and you will recognize Namli with many people waiting on the queue,especially on sunday.
