n equipment and provide lighting. But with the demise of agriculture and a shortage of labour the estate was abandoned. Most of the development is on undulating land with larger pieces on hill sides which command gorgeous views of the Santa Cruz valley. The remaining acreage outside of the homesteads is a natural preserve where ecological friendly conservation is being practiced. A natural brook runs through the estate and located on the estate are several natural springs. Natural limestone formations dot the estate and there is evidence that there was once a quarry. It is common to see and hear many birds, from green parrots to oil birds, picoplats to corn birds, toucans and also many varieties of humming birds.

Biodiversity was encouraged to maintain the health of the entire ecosystems. When one tree was cut down, one or more would be planted to replace it, ensuring the continuity of the forest, and so that it would always rain 🌲🌳🌿🐝🐛🌧💦

p.s. the Maya people didnt disappear, there are still huge numbers of Maya living in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Panama, many with food forests like this!
