Under the registered lands system, a Certificate of Title is an official legal document that evidences ownership and records legal rights and interests in a property.
When conducting a land transaction under the registered land system, a Certificate of Title:
✔️ Provides evidence of ownership;
✔️ Reduces the risk of ownership disputes;
✔️ Identifies registered interests, such as mortgages or liens;
✔️ Supports property transactions; and
✔️ Assists with mortgage applications.
