Title: THE MARK OF A GREAT LEADER

1 Kings 3:9(KJV); Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?


King Solomon, in our theme scripture, realised that the people he had been chosen to lead were not ordinary. He says in his prayer for the Spirit of understanding, "Who is able to judge such great people?"

As a leader, you must recognise the greatness in the people you lead. When you do, you are able to call it forth.

The mistake many leaders make is to approach leadership from a stance of indifferent superiority. It is the I am-better-than-you style of leadership.

It has never occurred to them that God can wrap greatness in a seemingly inferior vessel.

Immense potential has been placed by God in the heart and mind of every one you lead. Do not feel threatened by it.

Your part is to recognise this potential and create every possible platform for its expression. You are a steward, not just of physical resources but of people.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this wisdom. Thank You for the positions of authority You have given me. I am a great steward of the people You trust me with. They become better because I am in their lives. Where it is within my power, I contribute to their story of greatness, to the glory of Your name, Amen.
