What a joyful and meaningful day at Uganda Technology and Management University as we celebrated 360 new graduates! Standing before them reminded me of my own days at Makerere University in 1981, when only 700 students filled the entire campus. Life took many turns including having to finish my studies in the UK, but education remained the anchor that shaped my future.

Today, I felt so much pride.
Pride in our students.
Pride in what they have overcome.
Pride in what they will become.

I also took a moment to thank the parents whose support made this day possible.

To our graduands, I shared two simple truths: keep learning and adjusting as the world changes, and always remember that talent without character leads nowhere.

Go forth as relentless learners and relentless problem-solvers.
Carry the UTAMU name with pride.
And most importantly, go and change the world.
