The matter of over eating or love for food can hinder prayer.

In order to have an effective prayer life, you must not be a glutton. When you are found among wine drinkers, your testimony is affected. I knew of a brother in the city of Mbale where I reside who had a very good beginning and everyone thought the brother has made. He got donors and built a beautiful permanent church in a very prime location. But Mr flesh in him was not dealt with. The love for alcohol kept whispering until it took him down.

Over eating weighs down the spirit. It makes one drowsy and robs him of his blessing. You desire to pray but you may not be able because you are to full always. Gluttony over weighs a man's spirit so that he cannot exercise his spirit in concerted prayer. You become over weight to exercise both physically and spiritually. You cannot even stay minus food for purposes of prayer.

Are you over powered by the smell of soup to the extent that you cannot say no when you get to one place or another?

Father! I give you thanks and praise to the glory of your name. Holy Spirit help me to tame my appetite and always keep me alert when it comes to do minus food for the sake of seeking spiritual growth and depth for a better relationship with God. Worry and anxiety can hinder prayer. Worry is feeling or expressing great anxiety. Anxiety is to worry or be in sorrow. It is a strong concern or desire mixed with doubt and fear. As a result you are ever anxious, distressed, fretful ,uneasy and troubled.

When you worry, your heart is notable. Your look or countenance shows. You are wondering here and there over many things. As a result you have wondering thoughts in that they do not allow you to concentrate and concentrate in the place of prayer. *Mathew* *6:25* (NKJV)
[25]“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

In the place of prayer, your thoughts are supposed to be brought under subjection in order to hear God. You are supposed to be sensitive, aware and alert to discern what God wants to say.

For us to be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with God as his partner to cause his purpose to be done on earth. We need to bring our thoughts under subjection for effectiveness in the place of prayer.

Doubt is a quiet suspicion on the ability of God. You are questioning the ability of God. You are uncertain if God will do what you asked for. You actually don't believe God.

You are saying " I am not sure whether God is faithful. When a man doubts, it is an assault on the personality of God. When you come to God in the place of prayer and you doubt, you are simply telling God, I am not sure whether you are faithful and true to what you say." You are distrusting God.

Let him ask in faith. Ask with a simple heart of assurance.
Every time you doubt, you are being tossed. Your heart is in between. You will not be able to get anything from God because you are undecided and unstable in your mind. Be sure. *James:1:6(LT)*
[6] But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to tell you, for a doubtful mind will be as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind"

Be sure of your faith, have undivided loyalty don't be unstable in everything you do. Such people cannot make their mind. They don't know who to trust. God is ready to answer your prayer but you must do it with a clear heart with a simple faith. Come believing. Believe that God is able to do what you are asking him to do.

When you are asking in faith, you are putting God to work.
What has rendered your prayer impotent?
If God does not help you, then who can help you?

Unforgiveness or lack of a forgiving spirit is a hinderance to prayer. It can hinder God from giving you what you desire from him.

Lack of a forgiving spirit is a avery critical hinderance to prayer. You cannot be harbouring grudges and you expect to get something from God. Why could you preoccupy your heart with rubbish? God considers hatred as rubbish.

All of us have to settle accounts someday.

In concluding the above parable he said
[23]"Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants."
The debts we owe the Lord, who of us can hold God by the throat? When we came in repentance, he released us by forgiving all our sins. We are all debtors saved and forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ. We were so much indebted that all that we could not settle.

All forgiveness of God can be reversed if we do not forgive those who have offended us. Matthew 18:23,35
[23]Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. *Mathew* *18:35*
[35]“So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”
The debt that the master had cancelled was recalled. From the above verse, it appears as if no sinner or wicked man will inherit the kingdom of God. Even if you are righte in other areas and you refuse to forgive others who have offended you. That alone can make you end up in hell.

Is there anything that you find yourself doing and you react against another person? As a born again Christian you have been greatly forgiven. Don't allow one offence against someone to make your debt to be cancelled.

Father! Once again am before you with gratitude for your loving kindness that is plenteous everyday morning. Receive all adoration this morning. Holy Spirit help me to develop a a forgiveness of those who offend me. Help me to shut every my mind to all whispers of unforgiveness. Erase every memory of the hurt in me. I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ *Amen*
