**DEADLY CRASH IN ABBEVILLE COUNTY, VICITM IDENTIFIED**

The Abbeville County (SC) Coroner released the name of an Anderson, South Carolina man who was killed in a crash on Monday on Highway 28 Bypass near Highway 72. The coroner identified the victim as 33-year-old John Matthew Tyler.

According to witness statements, the coroner said prior to the crash, the Tyler, who was the driver of a white pick-up truck was observed having difficulty maintaining control of his vehicle and crossed the center line of the oncoming lane. His vehicle then struck a box type cargo truck head-on, causing the diesel fuel tank to rupture.

Tyler was entrapped and required extended extrication. He was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force traumatic injuries.

Two other passengers from the Cargo Truck were transported to the hospital for evaluation. At the time of this release, their condition is unknown. The driver of the Cargo Truck was not transported.

SC DHEC and SC DOT were called to assess the potential environmental hazards caused by the large volume of diesel fuel spill and aid in the clean-up at the accident site.

SCHP and the coroner’s office are investigating the deadly crash.
