Buying a home is meant to bring joy and happiness, but for Derek and Amy, it meant a complete reset in their lives. While looking for their first home, their rental property caught fire and they lost everything, including a beloved pet.

Due to the house fire, they ended up renting a property 30 minutes outside of Aberdeen. Thankfully, shortly after the fire, they found the perfect place.

Now, Derek and Amy have adopted a new cat from the humane society and are now proud homeowners. Thank you for working with A+ Realty and me! Amy and Derek still do need a bit of help to get back on their feet. If you want to support Amy and Derek after their loss, see below!

Closing #52 of the year
Denied. Rejected. Delayed. These are all words that can describe Alex and Meza's journey to homeownership. They started their search for a home on February 27th and finally closed on June 15th. The couple fought against many obstacles along the way, including getting denied by their previous mortgage lender. In addition, the storms in Leola caused water to enter the basement of their new home prior to closing. However, in real estate, when a will exists, there's a way, and now they are proud homeowners! Congrats, Alex and Meza, and thanks for working with A+ Realty and me!

Closing #49 of the year
One of my favorite things about real estate is actually getting to know people beyond the "how many bedrooms and bathrooms would you like?" status of being a Realtor. I found out that Derek cheers for the right sports teams (the Timberwolves and Vikings). We also share many common interests. It's great to have transactions in which the people you meet with daily feel much more like friends than "clients".

One of the most important phases of the home-buying process is the home inspection. Many times, buyers will perform a general inspection but skip over one of the most vital components of a home: the sewer line.

As a Realtor here in Aberdeen, I have seen many sewer lines with tree roots, cracked pipes, or even completely crushed lines. I even had one sewer line replacement quoted at over $50,000!
