"Why do I have to sign paperwork just to look at a house?!"
Trust me, I hear this question a lot.
I know it feels a little weird. You're thinking, "Rachel, I just want to peek inside that cute farmhouse, not adopt a child."
But here's the deal: before a REALTOR® can start showing you homes, we usually need a Buyer Representation Agreement in place. This paperwork explains who I'm representing, what my job is, and how everything works. It protects both of us and makes sure everyone is on the same page.
Now for the good news... there are exceptions! 🎉
Want to stop by an open house? Go for it. Want to call and ask questions about a property? Absolutely. Just browsing and not ready to tour homes yet? No paperwork needed.
The agreement typically comes into play when we start scheduling private showings and officially begin your home search.
Think of it this way: if I'm going to spend my weekends driving around, unlocking doors, climbing basement stairs, and helping you find "the one," we should probably make it official first. 😂
If you have questions about buyer agreements, send me a message. I'm happy to explain the process without all the confusing real estate jargon.
