What does this really mean for the Owner Occupied properties? It’s a reduction in your property tax liability; deduct the exemption from your tax assessed value to get the adjusted gross value.

📢 A home exemption reduces the taxable value of a home by $120,000 (or $160,000 for homeowners 65 years or older). BUT, you need to file for the exemption. (You only need to file once.) Doing so helps you avoid paying a higher property tax rate.

🔔 To qualify, you must own a single-family home or a condo and live in the property as your main residence. If you haven't already claimed a home exemption on your property, the filing deadline is Sep. 30. Apply at www.realpropertyhonolulu.com.
