I know I don’t post here much (I’ll try to get better about that!), but this is something I just had to share.

A year and a half ago I decided to start my own Home Inspection Company, and the unknown was terrifying. Well, I’m happy to say that it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. And today I celebrate 100 five star google reviews, an accomplishment I feel very proud of.

Thank you to all the clients, agents, family, and friends that have been a part of this chapter of my journey and for believing in my work. I look forward to all the moments ahead!

NOT TRYING TO BE A NEGATIVE NAGEL

I think we’ve all seen the “negative grading” issue come up on home inspection reports. It’s the LINT-le things that matter!

Happy Friday everyone! Just a quick reminder to keep those dryer vents clean. Clothes dryer fires cause around 51 deaths, 380 injuries, and $236 million in property loss. Unsurprisingly, the leading cause of these fires, at 34%, is the failure to clean dryer vents. If you see this in your vent, CLEAN IT!

WHOOPS!

Someone disconnected the gas line to this dryer and forgot to properly cap the line. Shut off valves are great, but should only to be considered the second line of defense in unused gas lines. It’s like they always say, CAP it or SCRAP it!

OVER AND OUT

Every once and a while we see shingle overhang like this. Excessive overhang like the one in this photo will likely result in water bypassing and pouring right over the gutter. Mix that with some negative grading down below by the foundation and you have a recipe for one very wet basement. It all starts up top!
