Our June Melissa Kaufman with McDowell Homes Real Estate Services has always been in the business of helping people grow π€©π
She began her professional career as a special education teacher, but when that field was no longer helping her grow, she jumped into real estate with both feet!
After an incredibly positive experience with her realtor while purchasing her first home, Melissa considered getting her license herself. A year or so later, in the middle of the school year, she decided to leave teaching and start her real estate career. βIt was a huge leap of faith in myself, but I made the decision that failure was not an option,β she shares.
She joined a local team and began selling in January of 2019. After learning as much as she could, she took another leap and started her own team. Today, she leads 7 agents, and she loves being able to combine her passion for teaching with her passion for real estate.
Melissa also has a passion for helping educate first-time homebuyers on the process. βOwning a home is such a great financial move. When I was teaching, the curriculum I had to teach did not lend itself to teaching about credit scores, how to buy a home, save for a down payment, or why buying a home is such an accomplishment. Many of my students had never lived in a home that was owned. It was always rented. I hope to make an impact on this,β she explains.
