La Puente is our community's response to address the effects of poverty by providing a safety net of services, where individuals and families get what they need to stabilize, heal, strengthen, and ultimately thrive. La Puente Home endeavors to meet immediate needs and to empower people to live independently and with dignity.

Annually over 12,000 individuals and family members receive at least one of our services, including emergency shelter, nutritious food from one of our 15 pantries, housing with support services, social-emotional learning based youth services, educational gardens, crisis prevention resources, soup kitchen meals, home outreach visits, and more. With the objective of meeting the needs of the homeless and community members in crisis, La Puente’s services both restore and strengthen people’s lives, so that they can live independently, with dignity.

September 30th, La Puente will be hosting a Candlelight Vigil in honor of H.O.P.E. Week that will begin outside of the La Puente Shelter at 913 State Ave, Alamosa, and will end inside Sacred Heart Catholic Church: 715 Fourth St, Alamosa.

Homeless Outreach, Prevention, and Education (H.O.P.E.) Week is a series of events meant to bring the community together to learn about homelessness and poverty in the San Luis Valley. Moreover, H.O.P.E. Week highlights community-based programs that alleviate and prevent homelessness.

This Service Shoutout Saturday, we wanted to highlight the amazing folks at Spud Cafe!🥔💛

They approached us about donating potatoes a YEAR ago and have been faithfully providing warm food for our unhoused neighbors once every week ever since!

Thank you to everyone at Mammoth Gifts/Souvenirs/Fudge/Spuds for giving us all a glimpse of what a compassionate community can look like. Your acts of kindness have a huge impact!💛

For folks who don't know, our Street Outreach's primary focus is to engage vulnerable individuals who are experiencing unsheltered homelessness and build relationships based on trust and consistency. This involves offering emergency provisions to meet the immediate needs of those experiencing homelessness, and through these efforts, we provide this vulnerable population with connections and resources that will benefit their health, safety, and sense of belonging.

Welcome our new service member, Rajani! She will be serving as the new Full Time AmeriCorps at the Community Shelter. This year, she is excited to be a part of something bigger than herself.

For our first Service Shoutout Saturday, we wanted to highlight the amazing staff and volunteers of the Community Shelter.

The Community Shelter provides a safe place to sleep, emergency supplies, critical resources, meals, and support to families and community members.

The Community Shelter is open for new intakes from 8:00 am - 10:00 am and 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm every day. Lunch is from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm and dinner is served from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm daily.
