Quick heads up if you are following a land division, zoning, or development question in Conejos County.

The Planning Commission meets Wednesday night, September 16, at 6 PM in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the Conejos County Courthouse. It is open to the public.

I always tell people that it is easier to understand what is being discussed when you show up and hear it directly than it is to piece it together later.

**Update: A major county land-use issue is also scheduled for the Commissioners meeting tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 17 at 9:00 a.m.—a continued public hearing on proposed 1041 regulations, including designation of mineral-resource areas. If you attend, pay attention to which properties are included, what developments would require extra review, and what opportunities remain for public comment.

Quick rate update for the week.

The lender update I received has the average 30-year conforming rate at 6.73% as of September 8. That is up 0.06% for the week.

That is a national average, not a quote for any one person. Your number still depends on the loan, credit, down payment, and what you are buying. But if you have been looking at homes or land, it is probably worth having your lender run the payment again before you get too far down the road.

Friday has the public artist reception. Saturday has the downtown artwalk, live music, and the new sculpture unveiling. It is free and family-friendly, so you can walk around for a while, see some good work, and grab dinner downtown after.
