Rockhouse Trace is a gated community about 10 miles downstream of the Wolf Creek dam on the Cumberland River. This section of the Cumberland is a "tailwater" and a gets its water from the cold and clear supply deep below the surface of Lake Cumberland. The cold river water is prime habitat for trout, and the Kentucky state records for Rainbow, Brown, Lake, and Brook trout all come from this area.

The southern Kentucky countryside of rolling hills is augmented by high stone cliffs bordering the Cumberland river. One of those massive stone walls has a cavern over 100 feet wide. This natural bridge, carved in 400,000,000+ year old dolostone by the flowing waters of the Cumberland, was designated a national landmark in 1987. The "Rockhouse" has been photographed and painted by many famous artists, and awes all who take time to visit it.
