We used to think a good date night needed a plan.

A reservation. Somewhere to go. Something to do.

But lately, some of our favorite weekends in the Poconos have looked a lot simpler — a quiet cabin, a warm fire, a glass of w**e, and nowhere we need to be.

Maybe that is what getting away together is really about. Less rushing. Less planning. More time to actually be together.

We still cannot believe this is in Pennsylvania.

📍Boulder Field at Hickory Run State Park feels completely surreal — acres of massive boulders sitting in the middle of the forest, with a landscape that has been there for more than 20,000 years.

It is about 20 minutes from Sojourn Chalet stunning cabin in the Pocono Mountains, which makes it such an easy stop to add to a Poconos weekend.

A few things we wish more people knew before going:

• Skip the long hike in if Boulder Field is your main goal. There is a one-way dirt road that gets you much closer, so you can save your energy for the rocks.
• Do not stop at the edge. Walk farther into the field - that is when you really feel the scale of it.
• Wear shoes with real grip. Some of the boulders wobble, and the footing is much more uneven than it looks.
• Go early. You will have a better chance at easier parking, fewer people in your photos, and a quieter experience.
• Leave it exactly as you found it. Do not move or stack the rocks.

This is one of those places that makes you stop and think, how is this in the Poconos?

Our new 6-person cedar sauna has quickly become one of the most-loved amenities at Sojourn Chalet.

One thing many first-time visitors are surprised to discover is that even in the middle of summer, the evenings in the Pocono Mountains can be wonderfully cool. After a day spent at the lake, hiking nearby trails, or soaking up the sunshine, there is nothing quite like stepping into the warmth of the cedar sauna as the mountain air begins to cool.

The scent of cedar, the peaceful forest views, and the contrast between the crisp evening air and the cozy heat create a ritual our guests cannot stop talking about.

Pair it with a soak in the hot tub under the stars, and you have the perfect Pocono summer evening.

We spend so much time chasing the big moments that we forget how magical the ordinary can be. ✨

This little disco mushroom catches the sunlight pouring through our 20-foot chalet windows and suddenly the room is filled with hundreds of tiny sparkles dancing across the walls. For a moment, everything slows down.

Maybe luxury is not always about more. Maybe it is noticing the light.
