Perspectivas Nuevas: Featuring VENTA TMB
Courtesy of the National Hispanic Cultural Center.
Our new exhibition, Convergence x Crossroads: Street Art from the Southwest, is just a week from opening!
As we prepare for the opening on June 7, we spoke with Venta TMB, a Las Cruces artist whose work will be showcased, about her excitement for the show. This interview has been edited for clarity.
Q: As an artist, what excites you about being part of the new exhibition at NHCC?
It is so rewarding to know that people are enjoying my work. Being part of a group of other artists is an honor.
Q: Is there a particular piece in the exhibition (your own or a fellow artist’s) that you’re particularly interested in seeing on display?
My "Southwest Railroad Endeavours" has special meaning as an expression of hope. With the progress made and the rise of Industrial America (1876-1900), the labor force was comprised of newly arrived immigrants who helped build the transcontinental railroad and shared in the economic prosperity of this era.
Q: What do you hope visitors take away from the exhibition?
I hope that visitors will find inspiration from all the artists' efforts to relay many various themes and beauty. As I was creating them, I did not imagine that so many people would be able to view it.
