We had a great day participating in the NM Prep Academy which is a STEM camp where students get to experience different careers.

CSTi is grateful for the opportunity to teach and introduce students to Geomatics! We had a GPR and staking exercise and also a search for survey monuments around campus. There was a lot of interest in Ground Penetrating Radar which is awesome! Thanks to the CSTi team members that participated!

Last week we had a great time visiting Zia Middle School and doing a hands on activity with 7th and 8th Grade Students. We staked out points with our GPS units and set nails that would represent their school logo which is a Thunderbird. This was a fun activity and was well received by the students. Its a great way to teach them how scaling works and how Surveyors can take a paper plan set and bring it to life. Thanks to our Intern students for your assistance and Adrian Gaytan for having us! Cant wait to do it again.

This project was also special to me because I attended Zia Middle School back in the day...haha... In 7th grade I took a math test and was placed in the "lower" math group. At this point I figured I just was not good at math and carried that attitude all through HS. After HS I started Surveying and after 2 summers working I was advised by my bosses I should pursue the Surveying program at NMSU. I was hesitant only because I was really intimidated by the fact that I was going to have to take Trigonometry, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Physics and Chemistry but with a lot of blood sweat and tears I was able to pass those classes and get my bachelors degree! I make sure to share my story with these students because I want them to know that each one of them is capable of being great and that it does not matter what Math group you are in you can still grow up and be successful!!

I wanna give a shout-out to our Mobile/Aerial Lidar and SUE Crews. This was our first mission combining our MX-50 Mobile LIDAR, Yellowscan Aerial LIDAR, and SUE Level B-D data on a large corridor study. The results are comprehensive and data-rich. This also cut our processes and product delivery time by at least 40%.
