Good conversations with friendly neighbors make Vintage Hunters Crossing the place to be in Alcoa. Before Vintage Hunters Crossing was built, a small neighborhood referred to as “Bungalow Town” by the locals who grew up here, was established in the early twentieth century. As the arrival of the Aluminum Company brought an increase in people, the town needed a school. Bungalow United Methodist Chur
ch was where the first classes were held, but the official school was built here off Middlesettlements Road in 1953. The Bungalow School served the Blount County area for 36 years before it closed in 1989. It became home to Pellissippi State College from 1991-2010, then sat empty for ten years until we began building our community in 2020. If you’ve stopped by, you’ve probably seen the original plaque from the Bungalow School’s opening, acting as the “focal point” of our office. Here at VHC we care about the history of both the Alcoa area we reside in and the foundation that our community was built on.
