I took some time this week to look back at what real estate has actually looked like this year in the Washington, DC metro region.

Swipe through for the numbers, a few of the stories behind them, and a personal update too.

This year has taken me through Mount Vernon, Old Town, and Falls Church, out past Vienna, and all over the DC metro.

Some of it was listings, some of it was buyers who searched Old Town for months before the right one came up, and a lot of it was people moving within the region for more space.

I'm grateful for every one of them.

Some were landing in Northern Virginia for the first time. Others had been here for years, waiting for the right house in a place they already loved. Others were ready to leave a longtime home and go build the next adventure.

Cox Farms alone is worth the drive, and it is not even the one I’d send you to first.

Every fall I get the same question from people moving to Alexandria, Virginia. Once the weather turns, what is actually worth doing out here.

Start with Nalls Produce Pumpkin Hill in Kingstowne. Go early, get apple c***r donuts, and give yourself a full hour because you are going to want it.

Then head to Immanuel Church-on-the-Hill Pumpkin Patch in Seminary Hill. It sits about 10 minutes from Old Town, so you can turn it into a whole morning without driving all over Northern Virginia.

The other three are worth your Saturday too, especially if you are new to Alexandria, Virginia and still figuring out which direction to head on a weekend.
