There are certain places in Del Ray that just feel like part of the neighborhood, and for me, Let's Meat On The Avenue is one of them.
Every time I stop in it feels like Iβm thrown back in time. The chalkboard specials, the conversations happening across the counter, and the familiar faces create an experience.
It is the kind of place that makes Del Ray, Del Ray.
The shop was built around a simple idea: provide high quality food sourced from trusted farms, dairies, and craftspeople while serving friends and neighbors in the community. Their commitment to local relationships and thoughtfully sourced products has earned them a loyal following here in Alexandria over the years.
Of course, I have my favorites. I mean, who doesn't love bacon? The scent of bacon always reminds me of my grandmother and brings back memories of time spent in her kitchen.
But my dogs would probably tell you the real reason we visit is for the bone marrow bones. They are a huge hit for Greta & Riff and have quickly become their favorite treat in our house.
What I admire most is how deeply connected this business is to the community.
The owners have described Del Ray as "the best neighborhood in the world," and after spending time in their store, it is easy to understand why. The support between neighbors and local businesses is something special, and places like Letβs Meat on the Avenue help create that sense of community.
Small businesses like this are what makes Alexandria such a special place to call home.
I'd love to know, what is your favorite thing to pick up when you stop by Letβs Meat on the Avenue?
