is currently seeing some major activity, with several large-scale commercial and infrastructure projects moving forward this year.

Major Retail & Infrastructure Buc-ee’s: Construction is officially underway at the site near the Tarbutton Road exit. Crews have begun pouring concrete for the main building (estimated at over 70,000 square feet). While groundwork is moving fast, the projected opening is currently set for mid-2027. (They’ve actually got walls up now)

LA 544 (Tech Drive) Overpass: A massive $39 million project kicked off in early 2026 to replace the aging overpass at I-20. It will include three new concrete roundabouts to improve traffic flow into the Louisiana Tech area. The project is expected to wrap up in late 2029.

East Kentucky Avenue: Extensive corridor improvements are ongoing, including widening the roadway to three lanes, adding bike lanes, and upgrading drainage.

Healthcare & Technology Willis Knighton Medical Office: Groundbreaking is expected this year for a new 90,000-square-foot, four-story medical facility on Willow Glen Drive. This $50 million investment will consolidate various clinics into one hub.

Microchip Production Facility: A new $80 million facility is being developed north of the Ruston Sports Complex. This is a partnership between Louisiana Tech and Radiance Technologies and is expected to bring around 150 high-tech jobs to the area.

Dining & Housing Delta Biscuit: This popular spot is listed as an active city project with updates as recent as March 2026.

New Hotels: A Tru by Hilton / Home2 Suites dual-branded hotel is currently in the works near the I-20 corridor.

Residential Growth:The Reserve at Moore's Dairy and Country Club Estates are seeing significant new construction of single-family homes.

Global Student Housing is progressing with a new apartment complex near West California Avenue to address the student housing demand.
