As we wrap up the first week of Black History Month, I want to take a moment to recognize a few Black leaders whose work helped shape fair housing and expand access to homeownership. Figures like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis, and Charles Hamilton Houston played important roles in challenging redlining, housing discrimination, and unequal practices—work that helped pave the way for the Fair Housing Act and greater opportunity for future generations.
Homeownership has always been about more than buying a house. It’s about stability, dignity, and the ability to build a lasting legacy.
