One of my fellow home watchers, Golden Rule Home Watch, saved the day. A clients had a gas leak that filled the condo. They called 911 and the fire department located the leak and shut off the gas. Thank goodness the owners knew the importance of regular house checks.

Here are some tips when you think there’s a gas leak:

1. Get out and call 911 asap
2. DON'T open a door or window - for natural gas (NG) to combust it has to be in the right mixture of NG and air. Opening a door or window may the optimize the conditions for combustion and cause an explosion. This was counterintuitive to me
3. DON'T open door/window since fireman have sensors to determine gas concentration so you don't want to skew their testing
4. NEVER be afraid to call 911 if in doubt or you encounter or suspect something

Please slow down, there are so many wildlife babies out there that do not understand the dangers of our roads. 6 moose have already been hit by cars this season in the breckenridge area.
