Attention: there are scammers out there trying to rent housing that they don't own or have access to. They are advertising places "for rent" and then trying to collect deposit money so they can "hold" the unit for you.

PLEASE be careful. Never give someone money for a deposit unless you have had a proper showing of the property.

If you are asked for money, please know who you are paying and for what. If you suspect you may be dealing with someone who is a scammer, they probably are; so walk away. Don't pay people without a way to track your payment, or at least get a receipt. If they don't have a way to show you the property, they don't own the property and therefore; can't rent you the property.
This is a nationwide problem not just in Milledgeville, but we wanted to make you aware of the situation.
