We gave the cabin a little love with a small decor refresh! Huge shoutout and thanks to a few wonderful friends Keeley Wiltbank Kathy McGough who helped out with the sewing project—it made all the difference. 🧵✨

Interested in a mountain getaway? The cabin is still available for daily rentals through November (or as long as the weather permits before we have to shut down the pipes for the winter freeze!).

There’s always a project (or five!) happening up at Woodpile Cabin... and surprisingly, only a few bad words were spoken during the making of this post! 🤪🔨🌲

Our absolute biggest mission was upgrading the hot water system—and huge thanks to the creaky beaver Emer Wiltbank at Beaver Creek Guest Ranch for coming to our rescue! We officially said goodbye to the loud, bubbling hot water monster and hello to sweet, peaceful silence. 💧✨

We also treated the kitchen to a sleek new faucet, so doing dishes at the cabin feels slightly less like a chore now. 🚿

The Great Beavercreek Kitten Heist! 🐱📦

Since Doug officially failed at his duties to become the Woodpile Cabin cat, we had to take matters into our own hands… and “kidnapped” a whole batch of kittens from Beavercreek! (Okay, fine—we had full permission from Emer Wiltbank Wiltbank ) 😂

Turns out, mama cat here is an absolute chatty Cathy. She will literally talk your ear off, take a breather, and then talk some more! 💬🐾

We were fully planning on keeping a few of these little rugrats for ourselves to officially take over cabin duties… But we could never separate a mama from her sweet babies. ❤️

So Mama and her whole crew will be heading back home together soon. Until then, stay tuned for plenty of kitten shenanigans! 📸✨

🪵 Rocking Chair Project: Underway! 🪑
It all started when keeleyw6 gifted me a massive stash of beautiful upholstery fabric. Naturally, my brain immediately went into overdrive planning future projects—think valances, pillows, and cushions! 🤪

But first up on the DIY chopping block: this vintage rocking chair.

Here is how the journey is going so far:
1️⃣ Bring it home from the cabin.
2️⃣ Light sand it down to prep the wood.
3️⃣ Restore the finish and bring that gorgeous wood grain back to life.
4️⃣ Road trip to H&R Fabrics in Phoenix.
5️⃣ Get completely overwhelmed by the endless options and experience a minor fabric store existential crisis.
6️⃣ Call in backup. Keeley and Chet (our trusty AI sidekick, ChatGPT) to the rescue! 🧠✨
7️⃣ Drop it off at cousin Dwain’s to handle the actually hard part (the professional upholstery work!).

There are plenty more projects to come from this fabric haul, but I cannot wait to see this classic piece completely transformed. Stay tuned for the final reveal!

While the major cabin projects are officially wrapped up for the summer, let's be honest—is a home away from home ever really finished? 🌲🏠

My latest creative adventure was trying to get a pair of chairs I picked up a couple of weeks ago to match the dining set.

Here is how Phase 1 went:
* The Prep: I started by filling in a seashell design on one of the chairs to give it a cleaner, more matching shape.
* The Custom Mix: I hand-mixed some of our white wall paint with a sample paint from Keeley Wiltbank and wiltbankbilly to try and hit that perfect shade.

* The Pivot: The paint didn't quite match the rest of the set the way I wanted. Up next: adding some antique glaze to blend them in and get that perfect rustic look! That will have to wait until the next trip, though, since Amazon definitely doesn't deliver out here to the cabin. 📦❌



For now, they are temporarily sitting in the spot where the rocking chair usually goes.

Speaking of the rocking chair, it’s currently down in Mesa getting a beautiful restoration and reupholstery facelift with the help of Cousin Dwain. I can't wait to show you the final look when it's back in its rightful place!

🐾 Cabin Kitty Update: So Close, Yet So Far! 🐾
We are officially leaving the cabin for a couple of reasons.

1️. We are rented out for the next week and a half! (Our booking system is almost ready on www.WoodpileCabin.com, but until then, just shoot me a Facebook message if you want to book a stay!) 🌲✨

2️. The Hubby has officially run out of food. Time to head home and cook up a massive batch of freezer meals to stock him up for two more weeks! 🧑‍🍳🧊

And of course, the plot thickens with Dougie:
He finally came back to visit right as we were leaving! The catch? I had already given all of his Spam to my brother Emer. 🤦‍♀️

Hopefully, next time I'll be packing better treats and have better success finally convincing him to officially move into the Woodpile Cabin! 🐈

🐱 Operation Cabin Kitty: FAIL 🐱

Dougie was spotted on the hill by his owners, Billy and Keeley! But alas, no amount of coaxing (or shaking a container of Spam) would entice him to come back over to the Woodpile Cabin.

We may have to do some reconnaissance to see what the neighbors are feeding him that's better than Spam! 🕵️‍♂️🥫

Operation Cabin Kitty is officially underway. 🕵️‍♂️🪵
I’m currently trying to kidnap the neighbor's Keeley Wiltbank Billy Wiltbank cat to make him the official Woodpile Cabin kitty. I call him Dougie, but his full name is Doug—short for Destroyer of the Universe and Galaxy. 🌌🐾

You know how they say don't take candy from strangers? Well, Doug didn't get the memo about taking Spam from strangers. 🥫😹

I couldn't get him all the way inside the cabin just yet, but he did come to the porch for the goods. Next step: lures, bribes, and full-on cabin integration. Watch out neighbors, the Destroyer might be switching allegiances for some meat. 🤫
