From another friend/past customer of mine that’s in Treasure Island/St Pete area-don’t fall for the lies!

Perhaps a word of encouragement for those hurricane weary friends out there; FEMA was here 48 hours after I filed Helene claim and monies deposited into my account 4 days later. FEMA was out 24 hours after I submitted Milton claim and monies deposited in less than 24 hours. A quality control rep came by the next day. Don’t be afraid to apply. The funds were way more than the rumored amounts and very helpful. Hang in there!

SEMINOLE COUNTY

STORM DEBRIS COLLECTION: Seminole County Solid Waste is assessing damage at the Central Transfer Station and Landfill. Because of a downed power line on site and localized flooding, the two locations will remain closed tomorrow, Friday, October 11, with no garbage or recycling pickup. Operational staff will be on site to address damage and prepare the sites for re-opening.

SATURDAY
October 12, both sites open; 7:30a.m.-5:30p.m.

SUNDAY
October 13, both sites open (Central Transfer only accepting yard waste); 7:30a.m.-5:30p.m.

MONDAY
Trash collections to resume as normal.

Please stay patient, and in the meantime, prepare your curbside to help ensure a quicker collection once service resumes. Due to the more severe nature of the storm debris does not need to be bundled like normal yard waste.

🪵Please separate vegetative disaster debris (such as branches, logs, and leaves) from construction and demolition waste (building materials, large items) into two distinct piles at the curb.
🪵Ensure that the piles are kept off streets, sidewalks, and storm drains, and are positioned away from fire hydrants, mailboxes, or other structures.
🪵If possible, cut branches and logs into 4-foot sections. Try and combine your pile with your neighbor’s to create larger piles.
🪵Avoid bagging the vegetative disaster debris; simply stack the debris in piles.

Visit PrepareSeminole.org for the latest updates on yard waste pickup.

Cell service

I hope this helps someone!
An important thing we learned last week with Helene, the hard way, is to make sure WiFi calling is enabled on your cell phone. If you lose cell service but can get to a wifi location and it is enabled, you can still make calls. It needs to be turned on before the storm while you have cell service.
On an I phone:
Settings
Scroll way down to Phone
WiFi Calling - Slide to green to make sure it is ON
Update or just leave the 911 info
Accept terms
STAY SAFE!
