These Texas heat waves have us asking the real question… are the pools we inspect cannonball worthy? 💦☀️

While we’re busy checking pumps, filters, safety features, and equipment, it’s hard not to imagine testing them the old-fashioned way. Don’t worry—we leave the cannonballs to the homeowners and stick to finding the issues that matter.

Roofers love drone photos. The problem? Drone shots often show very little detail.

A drone can tell you a roof is there. It usually can’t tell you what’s happening on the roof.

Loose shingles, hail damage, exposed fasteners, failed repairs, deteriorated sealants, and subtle wear patterns are often missed from 30 feet in the air.

If you were buying a home, who would you trust?

A roofer flying a drone over the roof…

Or a Master Inspector physically walking the roof and inspecting it up close?

Technology is a great tool, but it doesn’t replace boots on the shingles.

Some inspectors hang it up when the rain starts falling. We double down.

A rainy day can reveal things that stay hidden when the sun is shining—roof leaks, drainage concerns, moisture intrusion, grading issues, and more. Water has a way of finding weaknesses, and that’s exactly why some of the best inspection days are the wet ones.

Rain doesn’t stop us. It helps us learn more about the home so you can make informed decisions with confidence.

If you can smell a home, I assure you there’s a problem.

Musty odors can point to moisture intrusion. Sewer gas smells may indicate plumbing defects. A strong perfume scent could be covering up something the seller doesn’t want you to notice.

Homes communicate their condition in many ways, and sometimes your nose finds the problem before your eyes do. A thorough inspection helps uncover the source so you can know and love your home better.

One of the best times to inspect a home is right after a rain shower. Water has a way of revealing the truth—roof leaks, drainage issues, foundation concerns, and moisture intrusion often become much easier to identify when the evidence is fresh.

A thorough inspection isn’t just about what’s visible on a sunny day. It’s about understanding how a home performs when conditions put it to the test.

The 70s gave us muscle cars, great music, and plenty of nostalgia. Unfortunately, they also gave us Orangeburg sewer pipe.

What looked like a good idea decades ago has become a costly surprise for many homeowners. Orangeburg pipe is prone to deformation, root intrusion, and failure as it ages. If you’re buying an older home, a sewer scope inspection can provide the clarity you need before making a major investment.

Helping you know and love your home better—because what’s underground matters too.

A sewer scope can be one of the most valuable inspections you invest in. I’ve seen homes with newer PVC sewer lines that looked great from the house all the way to the street—until we reached the city connection. That’s where roots had found their way in and were creating a major blockage risk.

The lesson? Don’t assume a newer sewer line means a problem-free sewer system. The connection point matters too.

They don’t make them like they used to.

This older home had a built-in blender installed right in the countertop—a feature that was decades ahead of its time. Sometimes inspecting older homes is like opening a time capsule and discovering innovations that never should have gone away.

Foundation settlement is one of those things homeowners should never ignore. In the inspection world, movement or cracking greater than 1/4” is considered major and rises to the level of a material defect. Small signs of settlement today can turn into major structural repairs tomorrow. Helping you know and love your home better starts with understanding what your house is trying to tell you.
