He's way too cool for me now in the way that all teenagers are for their parents. He still laughs and has that spark. I miss these days out on the little league field (not so much as an ump, though...that was thankless). Whoever can bottle up and sell the absolute joy of a kid would make the world just a little bit better.

MESSY ROOM

Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
His underwear is hanging on the lamp.
His raincoat is there in the overstuffed chair,
And the chair is becoming quite mucky and damp.
His workbook is wedged in the window,
His sweater's been thrown on the floor.
His scarf and one ski are beneath the TV,
And his pants have been carelessly hung on the door.
His books are all jammed in the closet,
His vest has been left in the hall.
A lizard named Ed is asleep in his bed,
And his smelly old sock has been stuck to the wall.
Whosever room this is should be ashamed!

I'm really excited to hold this home open tomorrow (Tuesday) from 5-7pm. A New Hope is one of my favorite movies of all time - certainly not the best ever - but definitely one of my favorite. I make time to watch it every year - even if not on May the 4th. I love the feel-good atmosphere of budding friendship and the hope that comes with facing strong opposition...understanding that while there are mentors and friendships along the way that will help to get us to where we want to be, at the end of the day, we are accountable to ourselves for our own actions.
