FREE Summer Reading Program For Kids:
Applications are currently being accepted for Summer Reading Pals 2026. The last day to register is Wednesday, May 18th. However, seats are limited so sign your 1st & 2nd graders up today. This program is open to Housing Authority residents only. Classes are scheduled to begin on June 1st. Contact Diana Roberts at 924-3386, Ext. 240 for more information.

FOR SALE TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER:

The Americus Housing Authority has a used vehicle for sale to the highest bidder.

It is a 2012 Ford Expedition, Silver in color, with approximately 121,000k miles in good condition. The interior is in excellent condition, good tires, and everything works on this vehicle.

This vehicle has always been utilized as an administrative vehicle for the office staff. Minimum bid price is $6,500.00.

Interested parties may view it from 8am to 5pm from Monday thru Thursday. Call 924-9073 for an appointment.

Bidder must submit a written bid stating the price they are willing to pay, their name, address, and telephone number. Bids will be accepted until 2pm on April 23, 2026, at which time they will be opened and read aloud. Bids must be submitted to Americus Housing Authority. ATTN: Ford Expedition Bid. 825 Mayo Street, Americus, GA 31709.

The Housing Authority reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

WAITING LISTS CLOSURE
Due to high volume of applications, The Housing Authority of Americus will close the 1, 2, & 3 Bedroom MULTI-FAMILY PBRA (RAD) and East Oaks (PBV) Waiting Lists effective Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

The Housing Authority will publish a notice in the Americus Times-Recorder, HAA page, and americuspha.org when these waiting lists will be reopened.

The Housing Authority is an Equal Housing Opportunity Agency.

The Housing Authority of Americus recently hosted its Annual Scholarship Award Dinner. The HAA awarded a $5,000.00 scholarship to four seniors from Sumter County High School. The scholarship recipients were Ajiyah Coleman, Jor'Dyn Davis, Key'Zarah Harris, and Siniya Josey.

The Keynote Speaker for the occasion was Mr. Qaijuan Willis (Main Street Director and Interim Tourism Director for Americus Main Steet, City of Americus). Mr. Willis delivered a riveting message entitled, You are Building Something and You Can't Come Down. The message was captivating to everyone in attendance.

Each senior also received an additional $250.00 scholarship from the Americus Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., along with a $1,000.00 scholarship from 229 Rentals, LLC out of Virginia Beach, VA.

Congratulatory remarks were given by Assistant Principal of Sumter County Schools, Mr. Coleman Price; Mayor of Americus, Mr. Travis Rush; and the Chairman of the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners, Mr. Bobby L. Fuse, Jr.

"It is an honor for the Housing Authority of Americus to provide scholarship assistance to our high school seniors on their journey to higher education.", stated Mr. George Edge, CEO.

WAITING LISTS OPENING

Effective Wednesday, February 11, 2026, we will open our Waiting List for Project Based Voucher Program (East Oaks and Verandah Apartments). The Waiting List for Verandah is for 55 years of age and older. You may pick up a Verandah application at our main location at 825 Mayo Street.

Anyone wishing to apply to live at East Oaks Apartments may apply on-line at americuspha.org by clicking on the "Portals" tab.
