This past Saturday, we joined with the Immanuel Lutheran Church community for an important ALICE training led by the Amherst Police Department, focused on situational awareness and how to respond to active threats in shared community spaces.

A special thank you to our trainers, Detective Benton Carr and Detective Yvonne Feliciano, as well as all who showed up ready to engage, learn and support one another.

Relationships are best when we understand that purposeful effort is required to create a shared understanding of needs, goals and intentions. Today at Craig’s Doors we welcomed our Amherst Police and Fire partners for a staff meet and greet. The local emergency responders are essential partners in our daily work in support of the individuals we serve 24/7. We are thankful for our strong collaboration with both the Amherst Massachusetts Fire Department and Police Department.

Thank you Chief Gabriel Ting, Steven Chandler, EFO, MPA, EMT-P, and everyone else who joined- from the Clinical & Support Options, Inc. embedded clinician to the emergency communications center, our emergency shelter site partner, the Immanuel Lutheran Church congregation and our dedicated staff.

We look forward to a strong, collaborative year ahead in Town of Amherst, MA serving our most vulnerable community members with compassion and care.

Please join us in welcoming Shari Carlson (she/her/hers) as Craig’s Doors new Executive Director! 🎉 Shari brings 30 years of experience in social services and housing, with a strong background in trauma-informed programs, supportive housing, and leadership across nonprofit and public service settings.

Her career spans work as a Peace Corps volunteer, senior leadership roles in housing and social services, and guiding programs that support unhoused individuals, seniors, and families facing complex challenges. We look forward to the vision and leadership Shari will bring as we continue serving our community.
