Prior to entering the real estate field, William founded OutBabyNYC, co-founded both Rainbow Families of Puget Sound in Seattle, WA and Brooklyn Rainbows in Brooklyn, NY. Currently, he lives with his family in a Brooklyn row house located steps from Prospect Park in the Windsor Terrace neighborhood. William is the father of three children, two from private adoptions and one foster-to-adopt, he and his partner of fourteen years, are actively involved in promoting equality for all families. William acknowledges and nurtures diversity, not only as a father in an ethnically blended family but also as a foster dad to various children with cultural and physical needs. As a husband and father, William balances his home life with his professional life while continuing his philanthropic service most prominently as a member of the Board of Directors for Family Equality Council.

I’m voting YES on Question 2. As a parent to many children, I believe it’s time to end the use of MCAS testing as a requirement for graduation.

Massachusetts is one of only eight states that still requires it, and research shows it disproportionately impacts students of color, low-income students, and especially those with disabilities. Very close friends of mine have children with IEPs who met all their educational qualifications but were given a certificate of attendance instead of a high school diploma. That’s not fair.

Every student deserves recognition for their achievements, regardless of ability, and no one should be denied their diploma because of an outdated test.

Let’s stand up for all students and vote YES on Question 2!
