Thank you to everybody who called, texted and emailed over the past couple of days, checking on us during the hurricane.
I am happy to report the we are safe and well. The red dot on the photo is roughly the location of our home, where a very violent, slow moving storm passed over us for roughly 11 hours.
Instead of being outside the edge, or getting the eye of the storm, we instead drove straight down the right side of that swirling vortex.
Aside from a snapped-off palm tree, our home took no damage. We escaped flooding, as we are at a higher elevation, (Florida-wise), than the surrounding areas.
A rental we are own approximately 15 miles away was practically demolished, however. To be honest, we could’ve had it much worse and are very blessed, at this point.
Power, water and internet came on for us over the last 12 hours, which is an absolute miracle, given the amount of devastation that has occurred. We are now able to see all of the video that you have been seeing over the past days. As I’ve traveled around the area today, I can confirm that it’s as bad as it looks.
There are a lot of folks out there that really got hammered this week and still need assistance; so if you can, please donate to a reputable hurricane relief organization. I’ll be down here looking to see what I can do to help out, as well. Thanks again for reaching out, folks.
