If your household is anything like ours, your family has just experienced a disorienting week

Last month, the word “coronavirus” wasn’t even in our glossary. Today, through non-stop media coverage, most of us have become self-professed experts on pandemics, the spiky virus and the escalating toll that it’s taking on the world. We’ve also added a new term to our vocabulary that’s currently defining everyday life, “social distancing.”

Even though we are apart, we are in this together. The health and safety of our clients, friends and loved ones is my primary concern. In times like this “home” has never felt more important.

Most of us fear uncertainty, because we don't know what will happen. And that’s scary for a lot of us. Being afraid heightens our anxiety; confusion compounds it. So how can we best manage our fear and anxiety during troubled times? First, take heart knowing that we are all in this together. Being kind to ourselves and one another is essential to our well being. And we will find peace. This is Monday motivation – we can do anything!

Monday motivation tips to manage fear and anxiety during troubled times:

1. Go Outside - Get some fresh air by going on a walk.
2. Take a water bottle with you wherever you go -dehydration makes you more susceptible to viral infections.
3. Get Creative - Do a craft with your kids. Get an adult coloring book. Re-arrange your home space for a creative nook.
4. Eat well, particularly whole foods, avoiding sugar and fast food.
5. Be intentional in getting enough sleep each night—it really is NOT a waste of time!
6. Be Kind 🙂 - We should understand that tensions will continue to rise with all of us needing to confine to our homes. Have empathy for others, we don't know what our neighbors could be facing.

Lastly, stay home! We got this!!
