1. "You Can Skip the Prepping":
Fact - First impressions matter! Invest time in decluttering, cleaning, and staging. A well-presented home attracts more buyers.

2. "Pricing High Means More Profit":
False - Overpricing can scare away potential buyers. A realistic price based on market analysis ensures a quicker and smoother sale.

3. "You Can Sell As Is": Not Always - Addressing minor repairs and enhancements can significantly increase your home's appeal. A little effort goes a long way!

Let's separate fact from fiction. Here are a few more misconceptions I've seen over my 30+ years of working in the Alaska housing market.

1. "DIY Photos Are Fine":
Think Again - Quality photos are crucial! I recommend a professional photographer to all my clients to showcase the home in its best light.

2. "Open Houses Seal the Deal":
Maybe - While open houses can be beneficial, most buyers nowadays start their search online. A strong online presence and captivating listing are key!

3. "All Renovations Add Value":
Not Quite - Be strategic with upgrades. Don't overspend on personal preferences. I recommend consulting a real estate professional for advice.

Living in Anchorage for so long has made me come to appreciate some aspects that newcomers don't often recognize at first.
One of them is community resilience. Anchorage is more than just a city; it's a close-knit community that knows how to come together. Whether it's the annual Fur Rendezvous Festival or generally supporting local businesses, there's a sense of true camaraderie that makes Anchorage feel like home.
