🚨 Who is the insurance adjuster really working for?

After a property loss, it can be easy to assume the insurance company’s adjuster is there to help you.

But as Melissa Sherwood explains, the adjuster representing the insurance company works for the insurance company not the insured.

She shares an example of a $200,000 claim where the homeowner accepted a $175,000 offer without asking whether there was room for more.

💡 The lesson: Don’t assume the first offer is necessarily the final word. Understanding the claims process and asking the right questions can make a difference.

What would you do if your insurance company offered $97,000 for a major home loss but the claim ultimately exceeded $225,000?

In this real-world example, a storm caused extensive water damage after a roof was peeled back. The initial assessment was based largely on photos, and significant coverage was initially left out.

The lesson? Don’t automatically assume the first offer is the final answer.
