How often do we allow the negativity, gossip, and bad mood of others completely bring us down and change the trajectory of our day?

And most of the time we get sucked in and travel down the rabbit hole without even realizing what we’ve done.
We then wonder why we’re tired, short tempered, and generally unhappy.

Glennon Doyle said this and I’ve never forgotten it and try to live my best practicing it:

Build a moat around your joyful, loving life and keep the bridge up to anyone who tries to harm, spoil, judge or destroy your inner peace and happiness.

Michelle Maros and I talk often about how to practice this and she will say to me when I’ve been pulled into a storm, “Put your moat up mom!” We don’t have control over much but this is 100% ours. Be the boss of your life.
