Angel Fire Oktoberfest Weekend 🍂

Looking for a reason to head to the mountains this fall? Angel Fire’s Oktoberfest is happening October 3-4, and it lines up with one of our favorite times of year to be here.

Why We Love Fall in Angel Fire: the wildlife.

Fall brings some of our favorite wildlife sightings to Bear Necessities Lodge.

These are a few moments from previous falls: mule deer moving through the yard, turkeys wandering nearby, and elk appearing among the trees.

You never know what you might see while you’re here, and that’s part of what makes a fall stay in Angel Fire so special.

One of our favorite stops in Angel Fire is One People’s Kitchen.

We tried the Hot & Crunchy Catfish Sammy with crisp, tangy slaw and Green Chile Mac & Cheese, plus the fried chicken with baked beans and a Lemon Drop Honey Biscuit.

Chef John never disappoints. If you’re looking for a great meal while you’re in Angel Fire, this is one we’re always happy to recommend.

Thanksgiving just opened up at Bear Necessities Lodge.

These dates are usually booked well in advance, so we don’t often have Thanksgiving availability this close to the holiday.

Someone was feeling adventurous.

One morning, two does and their fawns stopped by the rock border of our driveway at Bear Necessities Lodge, but one of the little ones decided to do some exploring.

While the others stayed together, this little fawn wandered toward the greenbelt before stopping just a few feet from Mom.

Mule deer are some of our most frequent visitors, and mornings like this are one of the reasons we love this spot on the mountain.

Hello, September. 🍂

Fall is just around the corner in Angel Fire, and this is what we have to look forward to.

Golden aspens, crisp mountain air, quieter days, and views like these are some of our favorite things about fall in the mountains.

This video is from last year’s fall color season. We’re already starting to see the first hints of change, with peak color typically arriving from mid-September into early October.

“I picked this one based on the pictures, and wildlife as I am all about wildlife.”

Kelley and Robert recently chose Bear Necessities Lodge for their very first Airbnb stay—and the wildlife didn’t disappoint. 🦌

When they arrived, Kelley told us the deer walked right up to them. After their stay, she said the cabin was beautiful and cozy, the pictures and descriptions were accurate, and they WILL be coming back.

We love hearing that what guests see when planning their trip matches what they experience when they get here.
