I have more than a decade of local area experience with U.S Forest Service vegetation management and fuels-reduction projects and CalFire's Forest Care Program. In 2004, I co-created and supervised the Forest Recovery Team--a program affiliated with the Corporation for National and Community Service (also known as AmeriCorps), in association with the California Governor's Office of Service and Vo
lunteerism (GO SERVE)--and in partnership with the San Bernardino National Forest. I worked closely with SBNF resource managers, coordinating several large-scale fuels reduction and management projects on the Forest, most notably the Barton Flats Fuels Project. The Forest Recovery team was also a major participant in the Angelus Oaks fuels management project in 2004/2005. Prior to coming to Angelus Oaks, from December 2002-November 2004, I was the Urban Forester for the Los Angelus Conservation Corps, where I managed and coordinated Urban Forestation projects in partnership with CalFire, the USDA Forest Service, CalTrans and the City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. I managed the LACC's small-tree nursery that was part of the LADWP's "Trees For a Green L.A." Programs that I managed or supervised with LACC are responsible for planting more than 35,000 street trees in Los Angeles County from. I also have an extensive background in horticulture, having worked for an award-winning retail plant nursery in the Los Angeles area for many years. As a Nurseryman, I specialized in water-wise and xeriscape landscaping, with an emphasis in the use of Cactaceae in organic gardening. A Certified Master Composter, I served as a Community Coordinator for the County of Los Angeles' Urban Composting Program in the early 1990's.
