My absolute favorite time to drive around Ann Arbor is fall.

There’s just something about all the tree-lined streets turning red, orange, and yellow that makes even my everyday drives feel different.

It’s one of those things about living here that I never get tired of.

And we have to appreciate it while we can because this is Michigan… approximately five minutes after the beautiful fall colors, it’ll be gray, freezing, and dark at 5pm. 😂

Turns out, you can fight City Hall!

There were about 60 local landlords and property owners in the room, and the majority of us showed up for the same reason: to speak our minds about ordinances that directly affect the properties we own and manage.

Being a landlord or property manager is a lot more than collecting rent every month. You’re responsible for maintaining properties, responding when something goes wrong, understanding changing local laws, working with tenants, managing costs, and making decisions that affect both your investment and the people who live there.

So when new ordinances are being discussed, I think it’s important for the people who actually own and manage rental housing in our community to be part of that conversation.

You might not always get the outcome you want, but you can show up, ask questions, share your experience, and make sure your perspective is represented.

And apparently about 60 of us had something to say that day. 😂

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to the Meechigan Party at German Park yesterday! 💙💛

This was Spencer’s and my first year sponsoring, and we had such a great time. So many of our friends, family, clients, and people we get to work with regularly were there, and it was really nice to have everyone in the same place just enjoying themselves.

The Meechigan Party has been an Ann Arbor tradition for years, bringing Michigan fans together at German Park to kick off football season. We’re really happy we got to be a small part of keeping that tradition going this year.

I have a feeling this was the first of many for us. 🥳

Here’s a story about how the internet brought people together in the best possible way.

Mary found me online in 2022, and I was very pregnant at the time. 😂 I’m sure there was at least a small part of her wondering how available I was actually going to be, but I knew I could give her the time, attention, and support she needed. I’m really grateful she trusted me enough to take that chance.

It started with helping her find a cottage up north through a referral. Then I helped Mary and Jeremy buy a bigger home right in their own neighborhood. And now, four years later, we’re getting ready to list their Burns Park house.

But somewhere between all of those moves, they stopped feeling like people I had met through real estate and became people I genuinely consider friends.

I’ve gotten to know their family, watch their family grow, celebrate exciting changes with them, and be there when it was time to figure out the next move.

That’s one of the parts of this career I never could have fully understood when I first got licensed.

You meet people because they need help buying or selling a house. You spend a lot of time together, you learn about their lives, and they trust you with some really big decisions. And sometimes, if you’re lucky, that relationship sticks around long after the keys are handed over.

Mary and Jeremy, thank you for trusting me again and again over the last four years. But even more than that, I’m grateful for the friendship that came with it.

Not bad for two people who found each other on the internet. 😂💚
