🌟Celebrating 25 Years of Service – Elizabeth "Beth" Brush

We are proud to celebrate Beth Brush on reaching an incredible milestone - 25 years of service with ACDS!
With more than two decades of experience, Beth has been instrumental in planning, managing, and delivering impactful programs that strengthen our community and expand access to housing and community development. In addition to affordable housing lending, ACDS works with the County to provide operating subsidies that write down the cost of providing quality, affordable units.

Earlier this month, I signed three bills into law that allow the county to enter into Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) agreements at three properties which will create 182 more affordable housing units for working families in our county.

I want to thank Councilmembers Pete Smith, Allison Pickard for County Executive, Julie Hummer, County Councilwoman District 4, and Lisa D. B. Rodvien - District 6 Councilwoman for supporting this tax relief that will provide more of the much-needed affordable housing our residents need. I also want to thank our team at
Arundel Community Development Services, Inc. - ACDS for leading this effort, and the teams at Osprey and Homes for America for working with us to build these projects.

Bridges to Hope, a transitional housing program that will serve 8 men experiencing chronic homelessness is complete! ACDS provided financing as well as development expertise to our partners at Arundel House of Hope to move this important development forward.
The project completely transformed a dilapidated rooming house into stable and accessible housing for the residents, who will have up to 24 months to find a permanent home, while receiving case management and other support as they work toward permanent housing.

We’d like to thank everyone who contributed to a successful Homeownership Resource Fair this year!

Saturday, ACDS the Anne Arundel County Office of Equity and Human Rights celebrated Fair Housing Month. We were joined by 21 partners, including Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, real estate industry partners, legal and bilingual services, and appraisers and title companies, provided first-time homebuyers with resources, mini sessions, and a homeownership counseling workshop.

The mini sessions, “Mortgage 101: Beginners Guide for New Buyers” led by Shore United Bank and “Navigating the Market: Secrets to Buying Your Frist Home” led by Weichert Realtors Integrity Home Team, shared information to 62 combined attendees about obtaining a mortgage and house hunting in the current real estate market. The Homebuyer Workshop counseling class of 62 homebuyers was led by an ACDS Housing Counselor.

The event, which took place at the Severn Center, brought in almost 100 attendees who were able to speak with lenders, real estate agents, and other housing contacts to learn more about the home buying process. Thank you to the Anne Arundel Alarmers who served hot dogs from their food truck while kids enjoyed activities and coloring.

Big shoutout to the Gold Sponsors of the event – Shore United Bank and Realist Association of Greater Arundel - as well as Anne Arundel County Department of Aging & Disabilities and the The Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County who hosted us in their gym and Senior Activity Center space, and the Anne Arundel County Police Department who, in addition to providing a K9 demonstration, also assisted with traffic and parking.
